Summer Camp Group Leader – Job Description (Summer 2026)

Position Summary
The Summer Camp Group Leader is responsible for leading and supervising a group of approximately 10 campers ages 7–11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day during a four-week summer camp program. This role is distinct from the Camp Director and focuses on direct daily engagement with campers, ensuring a safe, structured, and enjoyable camp experience.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and actively engage with a consistent group of approximately 10 campers daily.
Lead age-appropriate lessons and implement provided curriculum for campers ages 7–11.
Organize and direct activities including outdoor recreation, team-building, crafts, and structured games.
Ensure the physical, emotional, and spiritual safety of all campers at all times.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging camp environment.
Communicate schedule changes and daily updates clearly to campers and as needed to parents.
Arrive on time and prepared each day (8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) for the full four-week camp session.
Collaborate with the Camp Director and other staff to ensure a cohesive camp experience.
Maintain attendance records and report any concerns or incidents promptly.
Model respectful behavior, Christian values, and strong leadership.
Qualifications
Experience working with children ages 7–11 preferred.
Strong leadership and classroom/group management skills.
Ability to teach and lead structured lessons.
Enthusiasm for working outdoors and participating in physical activities.
Excellent communication skills with children, staff, and parents.
Reliable, punctual, and organized.
Commitment to ensuring camper safety at all times.
Safe Parish training required (must be completed prior to start date).
Schedule & Commitment
This position is open for one to four weeks of employment during Summer 2026. Group Leaders must be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the full duration of the camp session for a full week.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to actively participate in outdoor activities, walk across campus, stand for extended periods, and supervise children in both indoor and outdoor settings.
